GENERAL INFO ON PROCESS

How do I apply for the Data Fundamentals Scholarship?

Start by clicking Apply Now at the bottom of this page, and you will be redirected to Part 1 (Profile Information) which should take about 15 minutes to answer. You will move on to Part 2, which is the Technical Assessment that you can complete at a different time.

Only applications completed from June 16, 2025 until July 7, 2025 will be considered.

Following the assessment results and overall fit with the program, FTW will invite selected applicants to proceed to Part 3, which is a Data Simulation Test. Short-listed candidates will then be invited for an interview before the final selection is made.

Can you tell me more about the assessment process?

The first two parts of the process take around 1 hour and 15 minutes. You can do each part at different times. At the end of each part, you have the option to proceed immediately or wait for emailed instructions on how to move on to the next phase of the application. However, the earlier you complete and submit both parts, the better your chances of securing a scholarship slot.

TRAINING DETAILS

What will be covered in the Data Fundamentals training?

The training program takes place over the course of 12 consecutive whole-day Saturday sessions. All scholars will attend the first 3 sessions, which will focus on core data fundamentals. This builds a strong foundation in basic concepts and tools. After these 3 Saturdays of fundamentals training, scholars will branch into two specialized tracks:

  • Data Analytics Track: Centered on data visualization and storytelling, using tools like Tableau, Power BI and similar platforms to create impactful dashboards and insights. The Data Analytics track will teach the basics of making sense of data and showing it in easy-to-understand charts and dashboards. This track is great if you like finding patterns and telling stories with data.

  • Data Engineering Track: Focused on developing technical skills such as SQL, cloud platforms, and foundational data infrastructure. The Data Engineering track will introduce the basics of how data is stored, organized, and moved around. You’ll learn simple ways to get information from databases using a language called SQL, and you’ll learn how companies use the cloud (online storage and tools) to keep and manage their data. This track is meant for those who want to understand how the “behind the scenes” of data works.

Each track will have its own dedicated sessions over the remaining 9 weeks, held in the same venue. The program concludes with a collaborative group capstone project where scholars can apply their learning to real-world challenges.

Will I be given a certificate/is there certification?

Yes, an FTW certificate of completion will be issued.

Who will teach in this program?

Industry Experts and Practitioners in Data Science, Engineering and Analytics will be the Instructors/Mentors of the training.

What are the possible roles I could be hired for after this program?

Completing this program will open many doors to opportunities in data and tech fields. Graduates can pursue roles like Junior Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Data Engineer, and Business Intelligence Analyst.

Is there any obligation of employment to accept the scholarship?

No. There is none.
